AbilityNet is a national charity providing free information and advice on all aspects of computing for people with a disability and their carers.


  

 

 

The Aidis Trust aims to help disabled people make best use of information and communication technology by giving information, help and support on all aspects of disability computing.

 

 

Assist UK leads a UK wide network of locally-situated Disabled Living Centres. Each centre includes a permanent exhibition of products and equipment that provide people with opportunities to see and try products and equipment and get information and advice from professional staff about what might suit them best.

 

 

 

Autoadapt is a company that offer awardwinning, safety tested solutions for adapting your vehicle, to increase your independence and regain your freedom. Their premium products Turny, Turnout and Carony are innovative solutions for getting in and out of your vehicle. 
.

 

Disabled Living Foundation is a national charity that provides free, impartial advice about all types of equipment for disabled people. It can help you find products and suppliers and also has an equipment demonstration centre. They also produce factsheets and other information resources.


 

 

Fledglings is a national charity which aims to assist parents and carers of disabled children, or those with additional needs of any kind, by identifying, sourcing and supplying practical, affordable products to address every day issues.

 

 

 

Livability is about creating choices for disabled people rather than making choices for them.  They believe that everyone should have the freedom to live their lives and use their abilities.  With the emphasis on choice, independence and control, Livability offers residential care services, supported living, lifestyle choices projects and accessible holiday accommodation, plus a school and further education colleges.  

 

 

 

Living Made Easy for Children is a website set up by the Disabled Living Foundation which offers information and advice on wheelchairs and other items for children with disabilities such as clothing, switches and toys (including disability awareness toys). 

 

 


MERU is an organisation that produces custommade equipment for children and young people with disabilities, when nothing else exists to meet their needs. They have recently started an outreach project linking volunteers with people who need small uncomplicated items and fixing broken equipment. Contact MERU www.meru.org.uk for more details. There is a charge for their larger projects which they expect to be met by the NHS or Local Authorities.

 

 

 

The Sequal Trust fundraises on behalf of its members to provide communication aids, which can be in the form of a specialised computer system, voice synthesiser to relay pre-recorded messages, and many other items of communication equipment. They also maintain, repair and update equipment as necessary.

 

 

 

Whizz-Kidz provides disabled children with customised mobility equipment, training, advice and life skills and gives them the independence to be themselves.
