ACT is the only organisation working across the UK to achieve a better quality of life and care for every life-limited or life-threatened child or young person and their family.

 

 

Admiral Nurses offer skilled assessment of the needs of family carers and people with dementia as well as providing informatin and practical advice for family carers on different aspects of caring for a relative/friend with dementia.

 

Alzheimer's Society is an organisation which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Carers UK was formed from the merger of two carer organisations with roots going back to the 1960's. Carers UK was set up by carers themselves and is a member led organisation.

 

 

CEREBRA is a charity set up to help improve the lives of children with brain related conditions through research, education and directly supporting children and their carers to improve their lives and help them be comfortable with their world, giving them the chances for experiences and enjoyment that all children should have.  

 

 

Children's Hospices UK is the national charity that gives voice and support to all children's hospice services. Their vision is for every child and young person who is not expected to reach adulthood and their family to have access to the highest standards of children's hospice care and support close to home. 

 

 

 

Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF) is a unique national organisation dedicated to fighting all childhood liver diseases and working in three core areas: research, education, and support. CLDF can provide a wide range of medical and support information to families and young people. All are provided free of charge.    Each year CLDF provides information and emotional support based on individual needs to thousands of children and young people with a liver disease and their families. CLDF is also the lead charity supporting medical research into childhood liver diseases and treatments.  

 

 

Children Living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases (CLIMB) is committed to fighting metabolic diseases through research, awareness and support.  They are the UK's only dedicated organisation to provide information and support on all metabolic diseases to children, adults, families, carers and professionals. 

 

 

Contact a Family are the only UK-wide charity providing advice, information and support to the parents of all disabled children. 

 

 

 

Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) The DSDC is internationally recognised as a centre for excellence in coordinating dementia projects which produce tangible results and places an emphasis on promoting good practice for those working in the field of dementia care. The centre actively works to improve services for people with dementia, working alongside local authorities, the voluntary sector, emergency services and government organisations to provide unrivalled education and training in dementia.

 

 The Dystonia Society is a UK-wide charity providing support, advice and information for anyone affected by the neurological movement disorder known as dystonia.

 

 

 

Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) is the campaign to get rights and justice for every disabled child.  EDCM is a consortium campaign run by four of the leading organisations working with disabled children and their families: Contact a Family, the Council for Disabled Children, Mencap and the Special Educational Consortium. Between them, the campaign partners represent over 770,000 disabled children and young people in the UK.

 

Epilepsy Action is the largest member-led epilepsy organisation in Britain, acting as the voice for the UK's estimated 456,000 people with epilepsy, as well as their friends, families, carers, health professionals and the many other people on whose lives the condition has an impact.

 

 

Find a Counsellor offers a free service in finding trained Counsellors in your area.

 

Fledglings is a national charity which aims to assist parents and carers of disabled children, or those with additional needs of any kind, by identifying, sourcing and supplying practical, affordable products to address every day issues.  Their approach is to focus on finding solutions to difficulties which arise as a consequence of the disability, rather than on the disability itself.

 

 

The Genetic Interest Group (GIG) is a national alliance of patient organisations with a membership of over 130 charities which support children, families and individuals affected by genetic disorders.

 

 

Help the Hospices is the leading charity supporting hospice care throughout the UK.

 

Livability support disabled people to live in their own homes and live as independently as they want.

 

 

 

National Society for Epilepsy leads the way in cutting edge medical research and are committed to better understanding epilepsy, improving diagnosis and treatment and making seizure-free life a reality for all those with epilepsy.

 

 

 

Network 81 (Special Educational Needs) is a national network of parents working towards properly resourced inclusive education for children with special educational needs.

 

 

Save Babies Through Screening Foundation UK is a non-profit making charitable organization run by volunteers. Their mission is to improve and save the lives of children by working to prevent disabilities or early death resulting from diseases that are both detectable through newborn screening and treatable. Saving Babies Through Screening is also a patient advocate group for Krabbe Leukodystroply. 

 

Special Kids in the UK is a charity for families who have a child of any age with special needs.

 

 

 

 

The Project - The Children's Rare Disease Network is a website/forum for children and families affected by rare diseases to share their stories and support one another

 

 

 

Transition Information Network (TIN) is an alliance of organisations and individuals who come together with a common aim to improve disabled young people's experience of transition to adulthood.

 

 

Whizz-Kids is a charity that is all about giving disabled children the chance to lead a more independent life by ensuring they get the right mobility equipment, advice and training at the right time.
