Breakaway Holidays are designed for adults with a range of learning disabilities who enjoy getting away, meeting new friends or traveling with a group of people they already know.  There is a a great range of things to do and places to go, with enough choice to suit everyone's taste.  Chose a holiday from Breakaway active if you are aged between 17 and 30,or enjoy lively holidays with plenty of activities, sport and recreational fun!  All holidays, whether you choose Breakaway or Breakaway Active come with an appropriate level of support that is there when you need it.  Their holiday couriers are all experienced and will ensure that whichever break you choose you will always have a great time.  They travel to France, Holland, USA and Spain, and also have many UK based holidays. Break Charity Holidays has been supporting children, adults and families with special care needs since 1968. Their range of services include supported holidays, short breaks, respite care and day care support for people with learning disabilities; self catering holiday chalets, homes for children. and assessments for families in crisis.
 

 

 

Calvert Trust provides purpose built holiday centres for disabled people in a variety of locations, offering a wide range or sports and recreational activities. 

 

Camp Quality UK is a charity that takes children with a potential life limiting illness on holidays, giving them the chance to be themselves and have fun. The holiday programme is structured to cater for all abilities and disabilities and there is a medical team on hand. Every holiday is funded entirely by Camp Quality UK and is provided free of charge to each child. 

Caudwell Children changes the world for special children throughout the UK, with direct donations of treatment, therapy, specialised equipment and dying wish holidays. 

 

 

Crossroads Caring for Carers is about giving time and improving the lives of carers by giving them a break from their caring responsiblities.

 

 

The Daisy Chain Project offers accommodation for respite breaks to any family caring for a sick or disabled child, families coping with limited mean in difficult circumstances, o r families rebuilding their lives after the loss of a child.  The Foundation provides this accommodation rent free and the only charge incurred is a booking fee of £45 per family.  They also provide other help, as required, in total confidence.  Where possible an experienced representative from Daisy Chain will visit each family during their stay.  Daisy Chain can host up to 200 families each year and have created a magical place to stay in Kensington Court with each apartment having its own theme, including Peter Rabbit's Den, The Planet Suite, Seaside Dreams, Bob the Builder's Pad, The Enchanted Forest, Animal Kingdom, Bluebell Wood and The Penthouse Suite.  Referrals come from Hospices, Hospitals, Social Workers and other agencies and all are welcome from anywhere in the UK.  

 

 

Dreams Come True

Dreams Come True Charity fulfils dreams for children and young adults, 2-21 years of age who are living with a serious or terminal condition. 

 

 

 

Family Fund [Logo - Homepage Link] The Family Fund champions an inclusive society where families with severely disabled    children have choices and the opportunity to enjoy ordinary life.  They provide grants to families with severely disabled children (aged 15 and under) based on families' views and needs.    

 

 

Family Holiday Association provides grants for families in real need of a break for one week's holiday of their choice.  The family must be referred to the Association by social services, a health professional or local voluntary organisation.  At least one of the children must be over the age of three. 

 

 

Happy Days Children's Charity believe that every child should experience the happiness life has to offer. They fund and organise holidays, days out and theatre trips throughout the UK for disadvantaged young people with special needs.  They also help young people in special needs schools, in hospitals and in hospices, as well as individuals. 

 

 

Holiday Endeavour for Lone Parents are dedicated to providing high quality, low cost accommodation and entertainment packages which allow any lone parent family regardless of income to both afford and enjoy a family holiday. 

 

 

 

Livability logo John Grooms (also known as Livability) is a national charity working with people with disabilities enabling them to have a greater independence, choice and freedom.  They have accessible hotel and self catering accommodation all around England and Wales. 

 

KidsOut is all about 'fun'; their Funds-4-Fun grants help with the provision of new toys and special play equipment, as well as fun days out, holidays and activities for individuals and families. 

 

 

 

Kiloran Trust offers residential breaks in London for carers. 

 

 

The Lin Berwick Trust provides holiday accommodation for people with disabilities, their families or carers.  The Trust have opened their second holiday cottage - Denis Duncan House in Dirleton, East Lothian, which is 24 miles east of Edinburgh, and 2 miles south west of the coastal town of North Berwick on the Firth of Forth.  The cottage sleeps up to 6 people, 2 with disabilities and has excellent equipment and facilities, including bedroom to bathroom ceiling hoist, wheelchair-accessible shower (wet room). 

 

 

Make a Wish Foundation UK grants the wishes of children aged 3-18 living with life-threatening illnesses. 

 

 

 

The Rough Guide to Accessible Britain is available free of charge to all Blue Badge Holders by going to the Motability website.

 

 

Pearson's Holiday Fund makes grants that financially assist disadvantaged children and young people (age 4- 16) living in the UK to have holidays or take part in respite activities in the UK away from their normal environment which would otherwise not be possible without some external financial support.  Applications should be made through a social worker, doctor, health visitor or teacher. 

 

Promise Dreams provides treatment, help and support for both children who are seriously or terminally ill and their families. Whether the child would like a holiday, a toy, medical treatment or equipment, or even the chance to meet their favourite celebrity, Promise Dreams is dedicated and committed to help.

 

Rays of Sunshine is a Children's Charity formed to help children who are living with serious or lifelimiting illnesses between the ages of 3 and 18 by granting their wishes, however impossible the wish may seem.

 

 

 

React: Rapid Effective Assistance for Children with Potentially Terminal illness REACT - Rapid Effective Assistance for Children with potentially Terminal Illness - works to give children with a life limiting illness comfort, dignity and where possible, greater independence.  The Charity now has six mobile homes throughout the UK, enabling families to enjoy a well earned break from the stresses of daily life.  Parents and children are able to mix with other holiday makers, confident in the knowledge that no "spotlight" will be on them.  All their homes are fitted with three bedrooms, sleep six and are fully furnished to a high standard, making them a home from home.  All you need to take is clothing and a bucket and spade!!  Please note, the holiday homes are not wheelchair friendly, however, REACT state on their website, that if their holiday homes are not suitable for your child they may be able to contribute towards an equivalent holiday if you send them the relevant information.

The Scout Holiday Homes Trust is a registered charity founded in 1969 by former scouts, in order to provide suitable self-catering holiday accommodation for families who have a member with special needs - irrespective of any Scouting connections.  They have chalets and caravans at sites all around the country which are maintained by volunteers who generally have a scouting background.  The facilities are designed to be standard wheelchair access but are not suitable for people who are totally dependent on a wheelchair for mobility. 

 

 

Starlight children's foundation: Home Starlight Children's Foundation grants the wishes of critically, chronically and terminally ill children aged 4-18. 

 

 

Tourism For All provides information on travel and leisure for people with disabilities, providing details of where their specific needs can be met.

 

 

 

Vitalise

Vitalise provides short breaks for disabled people and carers at accessible centres in the UK. 

 

 

 

When You Wish Upon a Star grants wishes to critically, chronically and terminally ill children.

 

 

The Willow Foundation is the only charity of its kind providing special days for 16 to 40 year olds. Special days aim to provide young adults living with life-threatening conditions a chance to escape the pressures of their daily routine and share quality time with family and/or friends.
