In Memory Reevel Tye
Reevel Tye was the ultimate family man. His wife Dora, his daughter Anne-Marie and son-in-law Terry were his life. When still working he would say ‘My life begins when I open my front door’. Nothing was too much trouble when it came to his family. He was a busy unpaid chauffeur for them, so much so that he was well known to, and liked by all of Anne-Marie’s friends and colleagues. Reevel preferred time spent at home to going out although he really did enjoy socialising once he had been dragged out.
Upon his retirement the family moved in together and Reevel set about restoring and remodelling the house. He was still pottering in this garden the day he died. Reaction to his death by friends, family, and even acquaintances has been overwhelming. The most common tribute being that he was a true gentleman.
Reevel became a supporter and friend of the NPDG (UK), when his great niece, Lucy Mathieson, was diagnosed with NPC in 2003. Sadly, Lucy lost her battle with the disease in September 2007. In lieu of flowers, Reevel’s family kindly requested that friends and family donate to the NODG (UK) raising over
£550.00 in his memory. Written by daughter Anne-Marie Tye.
